MUMBAI

 

Mumbai Event

Sporting Fun
The much awaited Annual Sports Day provides children with an opportunity to compete in a positive and healthy environment. It also instills a feeling of self worth, and allows children to be children – as it should be. With the overwhelming success of past 4 years of the sports day, this year too Concern India Foundation organized the event for our project children at the Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girl’s High School grounds, sponsored by Citigroup again.

Smiley Scheme
Smiley Scheme is a successful fund raising event where the school children collect money from their relatives and friends over a period of one month on their Smiley cards. Smiley scheme is a good way to make children aware about social differences and responsibility, and Concern India Foundation. This year the scheme was successfully run at Podar School – ICSE, The Scholar High School, New Activity School & Jamnabai Narsee School.

Mumbai Event

“Gulzar… Baat Pashmine Ke”
“Gulzar… Baat Pashmine Ke” is an attempt to peep into his persona, trying to grasp the essence of the poet. The journey includes a selection of his poems, songs, short stories and visual excerpts from his films. Sponsored by HSBC, this live audiovisual journey was enacted by well known narrators, singers and artists along with Mega screen video projections.

Art Exhibitions
Monsoon Art, sponsored by Principal PNB Asset Management and an exhibition of Nikhil Chaganlal’s works were the art events during the year.

 
NEW DELHI

 

Delhi Event

Activating Grey Cells
Concern India Foundation organised a corporate quiz programme with 25 participating companies. Siddharth Basu was the quiz master. Nokia sponsored the event and prize sponsors were: Radisson Delhi, Kairali Resorts, Neemrana Group of Hotels, Crowne Plaza, TGIF, ITC John Players, United Colors of Benetton and Ravissant Salon, while Dominoes sponsored lunch and beverage requirement.

Delhi Event Bazm-e-Ghazal
The Siri Fort came alive to the sound of melodious gazals by Padmabhushan Jagjit Singh. Sponsored by HSBC Bank (lead sponsor) and Aviva Life Insurance Limited (co-sponsor) the event was further supported by Hindustan Times and Radio City (media), Sahara Airlines (travel) and The Metropolitan hotel (hospitality). A souvenir, sponsored by BHEL & NHPC, was released at the occasion.
A musical concert by Wadali Brothers was organized at The Baha’i House of Worship and supported by HSBC Private Banking.

Delhi Event

Pause For A Cause
The eagerly awaited “Tussore” in September ,”The Rustle of Silk”, in December 2006 and “Summer Silhouettes” in March 2007 were very successful Pause For A Cause exhibitions. Chandigarh also responded with great enthusiasm to the first exhibition “Monsoon Verve” in July, followed by “Rustle of Silk” in January 2007.

 
KOLKATA

 

The M2 Challenge
Like last year, this year too, an intercorporate M2 Challenge(a movies and music quiz) was organised sucessfully at the Saturday Club. From a total of 13 teams, the 8 finalist were : Telegraph (2 Teams), Saturday Club, TCS, JWT, IMRB, and 2 individual teams. The First Prize winner was Saturday Club. The 2 individual teams got the second and third prize respectively, and the fourth prize went to TCS and The Telegraph jointly. Supporting the event were Apollo Gleneagles Hospital Kolkata, The Saturday Club, The Telegraph, Red FM 93.5 and JK Advertising.

Children’s Film Show
Concern India Foundation hosted film shows for school children. Two film shows - Garfield and The Polar Express were screened. The participating schools were Mahadevi Birla Girls’ Higher Secondary School and Lycee School. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves as it gave them not only a break from their daily routine but also a reason to contribute towards a social cause.

Kolkata Event

Art for Concern
Concern India Foundation organized its 3rd ‘Art for Concern’, an exhibition cum sale of paintings, graphics and sculptures. Inaugurated by National award winning actress Debashree Roy, and eminent film director, Gautam Ghose, some of the most renowned Kolkata based artists participated in this exhibition with 61 paintings and 4 sculptures. Supporting us in our endeavour were The Hyatt Regency Kolkata, Hindalco and Chateau Indage.

Chennai Event

A Musical Evening
A musical event by an orchestra of the visually impaired was organized by Concern India Foundation, and was graced by noted film star Vikram as the chief guest.

Citibank Sports Day
A sports day for over 200 underprivileged children was organised. Sponsored by Citibank, the children gleefully participated in vegetable race, lemon & spoon, sack race and fun games like hoopla and tailing the elephant.

Chennai Event

Mahapatabhishekam – A Dance Drama
Concern India Foundation presented the magnum opus of Kalakshetra’s “Mahapatabhishekam”. Nippo Batteries sponsored the event.

Corporate Cricket
Many corporates pitched in for Concern India Foundation and enthusiastically participated in the match organized by us. Over 10 teams participated and prize sponsors were Club Mahindra, Quality Inn Sabari , GRT Hotels and Cookieman, Siemens and Red Bull. The match was won by Sriram Builders.

Chennai Event

Wah Wah Ustaad
Zakir Hussain and Sultan Khan together performed for the first time in Chennai in aid of Concern India Foundation programme. HSBC Bank, Shankara Pipes, World Space & Murugappa Group were the various sponsors.

 
BANGALORE

 

Bollywood Hits
For the movie buffs, a special screening of the super hit Fanna and Krish were organized. Supporting in the Concern India Foundation endeavour were Hero Honda, Citibank and ICICI Bank.

Bangalore Event

An Arty Affair
An art exhibition showcased 110 pieces of contemporary art, sponsored by HSBC,Oberoi Hotels and Taj Mahal Tea.

Sur aur Taal
Ghazal lovers enjoyed an enthralling evening with noted Padmabhushan artist Jagjit Singh. Supporting Concern India Foundation were HDFC, World Space, Shriram Properties and Taj Residency.

On another occasion - Zakir Hussain, the tabla maestro was accompanied by Taufiq Qureshi (on percussion), Niladri Kumar (on sitar) and by Manipuri Jagoi Marup group. HSBC Premier, World Space and Taj Residency sponsored the event in various ways.

 
HYDERABAD

 

Hyderabad Event

Building World - Class Teams
A one day Management Training Workshop on 'Buiding World Class Teams' was conducted at Indian School of Business. Sixteen teams participated in the workshop. Ex - cricketer, Syed Kirmani, was the guest speaker and the event was conducted by Middle Earth Consultants and sponsored by Andhra Bank.

Hyderabad Event

‘Intehaa’
Intehaa is an attempt at presenting some of the finest works of Mirza Ghalib, the master of Urdu poetry. Tom Alter and Juhi Babbar did an articulate rendition of the famed poems against anenhanced background music of jazz flute by Rajeev Raja. Seagram was the title sponsor and, Essar and Hotel Taj Deccan were associate sponsors.

Idea Cricket Cup for Concern
For the third consecutive year, an annual Corporate Cricket Tournament was organized. The tournament was inaugurated by the well-known former International cricket player of the Indian team, Venkatapati Raju. The tournament was a success with 32 corporate participants. Prizes were sponsored by Seagram and Regal sports.

Pune Event

Josh – Inter Corporate Sports Fest
Goel Ganga Group and Mahanagar Construction sponsored JOSH’ 06 comprising a series of indoor and outdoor sports. Held at Hari Ganga Complex, 41 corporates with more than 400 employees participated. AXA took the overall championship of the events.

Pune Event

Walkathon
The Aviva sponsored WALKATHON, was a grand success with more than 5000 puneites, comprising corporates, NCC, school students, BEG band and general public participating.

Howszzzat
The 3rd series of Howszzzat ’07 a Corporate Cricket Tournament - with 33 participating teams - was sponsored by Indian Institute of e–Business Management, Mirchandani Group and supported by Piramyd stores.
